when I realized Kady W. is one of my best friends  (I'm going to miss you!)

when I went to Ireland, had loads of fun (and Baileys), & made some great new friends (in picture: Anthony)

and got my first tattoo with a little help from Anthony... "if you do it, I'll do it" style!

when I went to a very fun after-party + talked to a certain gentleman by the name of Paul Noonan + hung out with the talented Myles O'Reilly, who is behind the camera for the pic below, and very nice. So nice that I didn't steal his amazing camera. (thanks again to James & Graham. See you in Jan!)

when I traveled to Italy with my dad...

and Barcelona with my mom!

when I decided to be more laid-back – according to Anthony, that's what I have to do to be Irish ;) – and open minded, when I started saying yes to any fun opportunities, taking chances, taking risks, and being happy with any moment, big, like going to a new place, or small, like sleeping in a little longer! IMG_8534

when I went to Lisa Hannigan's best concert ever...

and stood right in front of Ben Howard as he sang the most beautiful songs

when I spent Christmas with my little cousins and had a great timeDSC_6401

when I got a freakin' harmonium!

and of course... when I got my (too beautiful for words) guitar. #1 highlight? maybeIMG_5158

other moments worth mentioning... when I dyed my hair blue, when I decided to take a semester off this spring, when I discovered thrift stores in Paris, when I started sharing recipes, when I started a quilt, when I opened for Kindlewood, when I went to see The Lumineers and met them before they got famous, when I discovered Kopecky Family Band, when I discovered The Young Folk and then became friends with the singer which led to having a free place to stay in Dublin, when I got over someone in a week, whenever Kady and I had "french night" (goat's cheese and a movie), when I started a Health & Fitness feature, whenever I finished a song, when I went to Germany and met my cousin Nick there... and so many more!

This year has been... pretty great! (now that I'm done picking out pictures, thinking "What were some great moments?" I can say this was an amazing, amazing year. Here's to 2013! Can it get any better!?) I hope you have a great New Years. Don't drink and drive! Have loads of fun, people. Thanks for visiting my blog! See you next year. Cheers! Vx

I just finished my "Bits & pieces" Christmas edition, when I realized I had another Bits & Pieces to share. Since I want to go chronologically, the Christmas post will see the day tomorrow. However, I'll be back later today with something else! I know, I've been posting pretty regularly – that's what I'm going to try for 2013.

dress: Urban Outfitters • necklace c/o Shop Adorn • tights: Forever 21 • wedges c/o Blowfish Shoes

I seriously love this dress. I remember getting it because it was so different from any other item of clothing I had, I just knew I had to get it. It's comfortable and fancy without being over the top fancy. I wore it with black tights to our December 24th dinner but once I got the grey tights for Christmas, I realized how much better it looked with a more subtle contrast. I've worn this on the blog before. As you can see, you can wear this dress with pretty much any color tights and it'll still look good( in my opinion). Also, Shop Adorn sent me this lovely necklace. I've received a lot of compliments on it, and I really love how simple it is. So me. Here are some more necklaces I like from their shop: 1 / 2 / 3

Now I shall go continue the quilt I started (Yes! I started one) Cheers! Vx

I planned on sitting for hours, playing my guitar and singing, but I've actually been cleaning my room. By cleaning, I mean going into every little corner, finally throwing away things that had to be thrown away, pulling out things that have obviously sat there for ages. I plan on asking my grandmother to help me make a pile of clothes to donate. Now that we've received a ton of presents for Christmas, it's time to give to others in need. My grandparents have lived in this house forever and have no doubt accumulated a lot of things, especially clothes. Let's see if I can get them to get rid of some things! I don't think everyone is like me – I spend so much time trying to get rid of things, it's the Chris McCandless inside me!

These pictures are from a family party last Saturday. We all had a great time. I have a wonderful family! That's my cousin Nick in the first picture. He's a musician. It's fun. I love the picture with the Obama blanket. It's awesome.

See you tomorrow for another post or two! Cheers, Vx.

PS. Come back January 1st for a WONDERFUL giveaway! It's going to be big. HUGE! Amazing!!

I'm completely in love with every single dress! I love this style so much! I just got my own drop waist dress and it may be my favorite dress. I'll have it up on the blog sometime soon. Find these dresses here: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9. If I were to buy myself one of these dresses, I think I'd go with... number 7. The blue one. Or number 4! I'll be back later today with some pictures of a Christmas party we went to last Saturday. It was so much fun! Cheers, Vx

Now that I'm not at Smith College anymore, I get to make my own food and so I get to share delicious recipes with you. Yay! I can't believe I have eight months to focus on music. I spent some time this morning finishing up a song. I'll let it sit for a while, and then go back to it. I'm sure there's something to add or improve! (update: I think it's done! It actually sounded better this time) I have a couple other songs I will also try to continue this afternoon. I worked on one of them with my cousin Nick. Me on the guitar, him on the piano. It sounded really nice! I can't wait to finish it. I also have to open up my harmonium to fix a loose reed - yikes! scared.
There's this wonderful restaurant in Paris called Fuxia. There is more than one, but I've only been to the ├ępicerie near the M├ętro Victor Hugo. I always get one of two things there... a pasta with goat's cheese, sun dried tomatoes and lemon juice, or 'scaloppine al limone'. I love them so much that I decided to try to make the pasta myself! Yesterday we went to the store and bought some sun dried tomatoes and goat's cheese. Fuxia uses farfalle pasta, but I decided to use Angel Hair because it's one of my favorites!

Here's what you need...

- pasta
- goat's cheese
- sun dried tomatoes
- cream
- lemon juice
- nuts (optional)
- salt & pepper to taste
- parmesan cheese

IMG_6811 You may have noticed that I didn't specify how much to add for each ingredient... That's because I'm not quite sure myself! Last night when I made it for the first time, I went with what felt right. I noticed that it was a little dry, so this time I knew I needed more cream. About 1/3 cup this time, 3 tablespoons or so of lemon juice. Goat's cheese is my favorite thing ever so I like a lot of it. Probably 3 tablespoons? I used 3 sun dried tomatoes, cut up into small pieces. I put the sauce into the microwave for 15 seconds to soften the cheese and then poured it over the pasta. The nuts are optional. It was an idea I had today, and I thought it was very good! And as always, add some grated parmesan. This was all for one person by the way!

My thoughts?
you want to taste the lemon, but you don't want it to be too lemon-y.
4 sun dried tomatoes is enough for two people.
remember not to use too much pasta!! The ideal serving size for one person is surprisingly small but it will fill you up, i promise. If you want room for dessert, then don't go overboard.
don't forget the parmesan!

Hope you enjoy this if you decide to make it! And if you add something different that tastes good, let me know! Cheers, Vx

PS. I love Flickr. They just gave me 3 more months of Flickr Pro for free as a holiday gift. Flickr Pro lets you upload as many high quality pictures as you wish. I highly recommend it if you are a blogger!

This was back at Smith when there was snow for a day! Fuuun. Now, it's Friday, I've sent in my three finals and I. am. done. I spent most of yesterday finishing up my gov paper, and I had a little bit left so I woke up early today and by 9:30 I was done! It's such a relief. Now I can just relax. I can play guitar and write songs without thinking "I should really finish that paper...", I can watch Family Guy and clean my room, I can do whatever I want, I'm free! I can cook! I can quilt! (yup, started my own with my grandma's help. It's gonna look great.) I actually have a couple recipes to share with you soon! They are YUM.

You're maybe wondering what the title is all about... Snow: there's snow in the pictures. Seth MacFarlane: I... love him? Simple as that. I've been watching some Family Guy episodes again... Man, I forgot how much I love Stewie! I also watched Seth play Ryan Lochte on SNL - so so funny. I know not everyone loves Family Guy, but I think it's amazing. If you have time to watch some interviews with Seth, he's a really interesting and intelligent guy. And funny. And he can sing. He's basically everything you want in a man... Ooookay, gotta go. Cheers, Vx
