TOMATO SOUP BY VAL & JAMIE

Hello everyone! 

Right now I shall share with you my brand new tomato soup recipe... The other day, I was on my bed reading Oscar Wilde at around 4pm, and somehow it turned into a nap. I don't really enjoy naps, because I always end up feeling super disoriented. So, it put me into a little bit of a mood. It was dinner time soon, and I wanted to eat but couldn't figure out if I was hungry and what I was hungry for. My stomach is usually really good at knowing exactly what it wants but not that day. So I picked up Jamie Oliver's cook book "Jamie's Italy" and looked for something to make. Obviously, I didn't have all the ingredients for most of the recipes, but I saw the tomato soup recipe and said I could probably make this my own way... And so the adventure began. Like with most recipes these days, I don't really follow the instructions, just see what ingredients they use and put in as much as I think is appropriate. Sometimes I add more stuff... it all depends. So here is a tomato soup recipe for a delicious tomato soup that is part mine, part Jamie's! It turned out delicious.

I thought it definitely looked better than whatever they call tomato soup at Smith... I usually think Smith College has the best college food ever, but their tomato soup is not this tomato soup. I really love everything Jamie Oliver does... I watched all his Food Revolution episodes... Heartbreaking when he cries! He's such a kind soul. Love him & his recipes. Some day when I have my own home, I'll have all his cook books.

[Recipe For 4 People] You'll need... 

2 and 1/2 cans of tomatoes
1 onion
1 garlic clove
olive oil
Heavy cream
1/2 cup white wine (max)
salt & pepper
1 slice of bread
Herbes de provence, basil, oregano
A couple cherry tomatoes
Parmesan cheese
optional something to make it a little spicy...

Slice up the onion and garlic into small pieces and throw it all in a pan with two tablespoons of olive oil. I'd add more than usual 'cause it's also a big part of the soup. Jamie even says to add some olive oil at the end, once you serve it. Once the onion is a little caramelized, slowly add the tomatoes... crush them but not too much. Add as much white wine as you want but I wouldn't add more than half a cup. Then, add everything else in whatever order you want. Keep tasting it to make sure you don't add too much salt or pepper... Toast the bread and add it to the soup. Don't forget the parmesan cheese!! Very important.

There you have it... Pretty easy huh? I hope you enjoy it! The reason I don't give too many instructions is so you can make it your own. I just add the heavy cream to make it creamier, but you don't actually have to. Do it, have fun with it!

All the recipes in this book are yummy, this one as well. I bought this book for my boyfriend. We're lucky to visit Italy this summer and hope to try original dishes:)

First off, I really love the voice your writing takes. I've been trying to find my own voice and by doing so, I've been noticing everyone's voices. It's so...friendly and intriguing! Lovely :) also, I love Jamie Oliver so much! I have his cook books too :) this soup looks fantastic! Hearty!
