THOUGHTS

IMG_8562
I've tried introducing features into my blog... At one point in 2012, I wrote an 'end of the week' post every Sunday, I was also supposed to produce regular Fitness & Health posts, I attempted to write Polyvore-infused posts every week but ended up unhappy with the consumerist aspect of it all. I've tried scheduling posts, or writing them way in advance so I'd have two weeks of posts planned out. I've loved blogging but sometimes I've wondered if anyone is really out there or if I'm just wasting time. What I've realized is that these features I create usually die out after a while. Some come back from time to time (Bits & Pieces) and I'm okay with that. I remember reading about how readers like regular posts because it gives the blog structure but I guess I've never liked them as much because sometimes they feel forced or bland, like filler-posts just there to take up space, save the blogger some time, and waste everyone else's. Sometimes I get the feeling more famous bloggers feel pressure to produce material every day or write certain kinds of posts because that's what the readers want. While I'm not saying it's a bad thing to want to make your readers happy, I wonder if they're really doing what they want and if they are being true to who they are. While I still wish to divulge only snippets of my life, I don't want the blog to feel fake. I hope you'll appreciate the effort to keep this blog as "me" as possible. I changed the whole layout of the blog, so that's a great start! Anyway, just some thoughts... Vx

I totally agree with you. I have the same thoughts coming in and out all the time. And as you I've tried of making scheduled post but sometimes it just doesn't feel right. Your blog should be your blog only and in my opinion the readers will like it only if you like it:) Good luck!

Hi There! I've been reading your blog for a while now but (I think) this is the first time I've commented :) I really feel the same way. Writing regular posts is difficult for me, I feel like my life is so random and not structured that writing the same kind of posts is really hard. I've really just started my blog and thought ideas for blogging and that kind of thing would just come to me more naturally than they have. I still love blogging, just not when it feels like a chore!

I agree that you should write what you enjoy, and not what you think that people want to read! Blogging's kind of a strange hobby when you really think about it, but as long as it works for you that's the important thing xx
