Why. do. days. fly. by?

I've put a lot of effort into blogging these past few weeks. Once I even woke up at 5:30AM to do some blogging. Or maybe I couldn't sleep, decided to get up and start the day, and said "eh, why not blog?" Either way, I'm blogging, right? I don't know about you, but I spend way too much time on my computer. I remember those days when I was thirteen and I'd come home from school to an empty apartment; it was nice; it was quiet and I would lay on my bed and read until my parents came home. Seriously? I haven't done that in ages. Now it's more 'get home, open computer, check random things you don't even care about and god why am I even doing this?, after thirty minutes finally put belongings and groceries you walked in with on floor and realize you are stupid and lazy'.

But anyhow. That's the world we live in. Here are some fun, interesting, good (or bad, it's all opinion) links to get you through a lazy sunday.

These pictures are from a while back (I was in Colombia in July) but I finally got to them and wanted to share! The Tayrona National Park was amazing. My mom and I spent three magical days there. It was the first time I enjoyed being at the beach!

Another outfit from my time in Colombia. On our trip to Cartagena and Parque Tayrona, I took a small backpack and thus wore a combination of the few items I had with me. Still, I wasn't complaining. I didn't need anything else! I write this as I take a break from packing for Smith. I have absolutely no idea how I'm going to get all my stuff back to Paris in December. This is a crazy amount of things I own. I need to try to get rid of 1/2 of it... maybe a new challenge?

eclairs 1 eclairs 2 eclairs 3 eclairs 4

Those are the éclairs (and choux) I made. They have a... rustic look. In taste, I must say, they were really delicious. I mean, better than some éclairs I have bought! The flavors? Salted caramel, matcha, vanilla, chocolate, and coffee. Appetizing, eh? A lot of time has passed since I made these, and I have decided I won't share the recipe quite yet. I would like to make them a few more times (but not in the near future, I'm trying to be healthy) and really master the whole art of making éclairs. For now, here are the pictures of the ones that turned out well! Thanks for visiting the blog. I hope you've enjoyed the recipes I've shared so far! Vx

Paris 1 paris 2 paris 3 paris 4 paris 5

A mix of pretty camera pictures – eh – and iphone pictures. I spent a lot of time one evening last week writing blog posts and scheduling posts, all in my gmail calendar. I felt really good about it. What a professional, I thought. This week I've been super busy with work at the Moose and some south african dreaming, and I didn't realize that I hadn't written any of the scheduled posts for this week. So nothing was about to magically appear every day like I thought, aaaand now I feel like an idiot. But it's fine. So here is what was supposed to be Tuesday's post...

Paris has been great to me this summer. Other than the constant craving for pastries (which I haven't been craving this week hallelujah! but will it last...? dun dun dun), the weather has been pretty spectacular. A bit of rain, even a need for a sweater or light jacket, but none of that unpalatable heat that keeps me in the apartment all day. I've even made new friends and it's all good.
Working at the Moose has been so much fun. Above you can see a really sucky picture of an Apérol, which I drank one day all by myself at the Moose. Well, Eric was there. He made it. What I mean is, the Moose is my special place. Someone I know will always be there working. I walk around the area a lot anyway; if I'm tired, or thirsty, I go in. It's a nice place. Where everybody knows my name. They play rugby and other sports on all the TVs but you can just tune it out, like I do. And that ends the promotion for the Moose portion of this blog post! That'll be one trillion dollars, the Moose... Or a gin & tonic... a high five?

In conclusion, Paris is pretty cool. Worth a visit, you know, if you're bored or something.

PS. Bit shout out to Rozena (super serious girl taking a picture of a wall in picture 2) for being so freaking great. Even though she didn't realize I was dying after taking a shot Wednesday night. I'm alive so we're cool.

Fuxia Fuxia Fuxia Fuxia Fuxia Fuxia

several locations in Paris.

Unlike Paris in Four Months, I do not quite love taking out the big camera to take pictures of food in restaurants or shops. I use my iphone. The pictures aren't that great but I feel less uncomfortable, and in the end, all you need to know is how it all tasted! right...?

Fuxia has never disappointed me. When I was in high school, I used to meet my mom for lunch on tuesdays. Fuxia was five minutes from where she worked, so very often we would end up there. I have to say, for a chain, I quite love this place. The food is simple and tasty. Comforting, depending on what you order. My favorite is the farfalle pastore which has goat cheese, lemon and sun dried tomatoes. When I'm in the mood for some protein, I get the Scaloppine limone, but they don't always have it. I think they switch menus depending on the season. If you're looking for something good, fast, simple and not too expensive, try Fuxia. The waiters have always been really sweet too.

L'éclair de génie

éclair à la vanille – Okay, I am definitely on a vanilla quick. After I fell in love with the Infiniment Vanille macaron at Pierre Hermé, I've been wanting to try ALL vanilla pastries. So far, I've found one vanilla macaron that is 95% as good as the one from Pierre Hermé. It will be on the blog soon for sure. This vanilla pecan éclair was amazing. It was not just sweet. You know, those pastries that have no flavor, they're just sweet? Nope, this was all vanilla, all pecan, all delicious. It was my first time going to l'éclair de génie and I'm dying to go back. They have a ton of interesting flavors! Definitely a must for any éclair lover. Also, this summer they have éclair ice-cream... I need one. I really do.

Pain de sucre

Baba au rhum – This is my first baba au rhum so I have nothing to compare it too. I really loved the vanilla cream at the bottom (duh, it was vanilla) and I wish I hadn't added all the rhum (though what a fun way to present a baba au rhum!) because it just soaked everything and went to the bottom. However it was not too sweet, so I quite enjoyed it. Pain de sucre, I am coming for more!

romper: Ticket • bracelet: found in various little shops all around Colombia

I found a beautiful and simple black romper in Colombia. Just perfect. It shrinks a bit in the wash but the loosens after a bit. Still, that scares me! I might wash it by hand, see if that works better. Rompers are the bomb. So easy to wear. I went to the hair salon that day. There was rarely any hot water in the shower and I was having a lot of trouble washing my hair because I couldn't stay in the shower longer than five minutes – freezing! So I went and the lady even gave me a pretty braid! Loved it.
