It's a new year. 2015. How does it feel to get old? How does it feel to know 2014 went by in a flash? Not good, no. Loads of resolutions and lists around the internet and in everyone's head. This is the year I will [insert something you've said every single year and have yet to accomplish]. We're all losers. Then again we try. And that's good – being positive and all that. Every year I said I would lose weight and then I did so in the summer of 2013. Yes, I put half of it back on (didn't have much to lose to begin with) but it keeps me motivated to know I'm capable of it even though I've been really awful about fitness and health the whoooole year of 2014. Not even kidding. One whole year of "meh, I'll be better tomorrow". But HEY, I'll be better this year. If anything, I have tried to sneak in a bit of fitness here and there, even when I'm lazy. I'm no Izabel Goulart. I really would love that though. Seriously. [Sigh] Here are some thoughts...
10 WAYS TO SNEAK SOME FITNESS & HEALTHY HABITS INTO YOUR LIFE
One. Buy a yoga mat (any fitness related mat) & some dumbbells (minimum 5 pounds!)
Two. leave out those dumbbells and whenever you pass them, do a series of 10. Look up some favorite arm workouts. It'll take 60 seconds and then move on with your busy day!
Three. clean the house with music on. Music you can dance to. If you're like me, you'll dance instead of cleaning the house but hey, that's one goal getting met.
Four. look for workouts that you can do while sitting at work (here)
Five. It's awful and makes me gag each time but it's supposed to be good for you. So drink one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar when you wake up: 1 // 2 // 3
Six. drink a giant glass of water (20 oz if you can!) first thing in the morning. Seriously! Don't forget. I'm bad at this because water doesn't taste good in the morning (scientifically proven. ok, maybe not). But I try to do water with lemon juice. I'm usually able to down that no problem.
Seven. work on making cupcakes, cakes, muffins (...) treats and not habits. This was hard for me for a while there. I started the "Dégustation de Pâtisseries" series on the blog and stupidly kept making excuses for going out and getting pastries. Hey it's for the blog. I'll be back in Paris soon and pastries will be off the table for a while until I get back on track and then they will be a treat, like once a week. Definitely not four or five times a week like this summer (holy crap).
Eight. get rid of all the bad food in the house. Chips, muffins, donuts, candy, soda, etc. Don't have it lying around and it'll be easier to stick to the healthy lifestyle plan.
Nine. start small. Maybe try to remember to do a one minute plank every single day. Doesn't matter when, just try to make it a habit. Don't expect one minute to change you, but it's an easy way to slowly get some fitness in your life.
