There's been silence on the blog.

Because people like lists, I started thinking of blog posts that would basically be lists. "Best places to eat in Paris", "Best parks in Paris", "Health tips", "Best moves to get rid of that damn muffin top", "Where to go in Dublin". Or recipes, and reviews of restaurants. Because people also like food. 
And then the drafts stayed there forever. and ever. and ever. And today, I finally realized why something bothered me every time I posted these, or why I couldn't finish them. An American blogger came to Paris for a few days. I was going through her pictures, and then I read "Don't worry, I'll write about where to stay and what to eat/see in the next post". And as much as I like her, I got a little mad. I thought Why do you think you can give advice about a city you spent two days in? BAM. Wow, wait a minute. This has been going on forever.

I suddenly realized that all bloggers do this. They will travel somewhere for the first time and come back with all this knowledge about the place. There are so many things that we, as bloggers, are writing about that we are just not qualified or knowledgeable enough to write about. Sure, travel is not the worst of things, but what about health? 

Self-realization: I don't want to give advice. I don't want to make lists. I just want to share my own personal experiences. Sure, I can give advice about Paris. This is my city. I love when people come over and I can take them everywhere. I've even thought of starting a pastry tour of Paris. But there are many things I wanted to talk about that I will now put behind me. This is a place where I share my life in pictures and words, and I want to be completely honest and true. Where to get the best coffee in Paris? I don't have ONE favorite place, but I can probably point you in the direction of a good cafe depending on which arrondissement you are in. What shouldn't you miss while you're here? It depends on you, who you are with, and how long you're here for! Best macaron? Oh well, THAT I do know ;)

So expect more of this – pictures from my every day life in Paris. Mostly taken on an iphone (I hope to soon upgrade!!). Other than a few days of 100 degree weather, it's been a pretty good summer in Paris.

Frenchie to Go

Frenchie to Go is a lovely little place for breakfast or lunch if you miss good American food. I went with my dad ages ago. I was missing pulled pork so it was one of those days where I didn't even have to look at the menu. Pulled pork, please. My dad went for the pastrami and a pickle on the side. I'm definitely not a any-kind-of-pickle kind of person. I like cornichons. Oh mon dieu, so French.

There are a few other things on the menu I am dying to go back for... The lobster roll (so much lobster roll love in me), and the sticky bun (another wacky obsession). Obviously this is Paris, so the prices are slightly high. 22 euros for the lobster roll... 4,50 euros for the sticky bun... over 10 euros for each sandwich. Yikes. I wish I were a millionaire so I could keep trying new restaurants every day, and go back again and again to all the ones I love.

It was fun while it lasted. I started the "Cooking in Paris" series ages ago, but after just a few posts, I realized I didn't like writing out recipes. Aw well! And I also realized I didn't really want to do all this cooking all the time. Especially in the summer, when it's hot and all you want is water with a side of water. Especially when I should be writing songs and doing music, not cooking all day. Alas, you may have noticed the same goes for the blog. While six months ago, I was all in, working at the dining table in my aunt's house in Colombia every morning from 9 to 12, now it's sporadic and only if I have the time. But it's okay. And I do hope that whoever stumbles across my blog will get a little something out of it. Enjoy it. That would be nice.

Steak au poivre and leeks with mustard sauce (should I really have used two different sauces in one plate? That's probably against every cooking rule there is). I followed Mimi's black pepper & cognac steak recipe (HERE) and a Saveur recipe for the leeks (HERE). It was a winter dish. I remember eating that during the holidays in 2013 with my friend Kady and my dad. Now that it's summer, this doesn't sound appealing at all. But hey, bookmark those recipes for the coming winter because mmmmm it was very good. 

I also added some pictures of cheese. French cheese. I remember thinking that I would talk about each cheese a little but it's been over a year and I don't remember "le villageois" at all. It was good though. I would definitely remember if it had been disgusting. The first cheese is called "Brillat-Savarin" and it is in my top 5 favorite cheeses. Maybe top 3. If you're in Paris, I absolutely recommend finding a Fromagerie and asking for a nice soft quarter or half of Brillat-Savarin. You will not regret it.

Another day, another outfit. Though most days it's the same outfit. I wear the same items so often (especially to work) that I started to fear people would think I wasn't washing my clothes and that I don't actually have a closet full of clothes, four drawers full of clothes, a suitcase and three boxes full of winter clothes... It doesn't really matter what people think, does it. 

I found a light black romper for the summer, as well as some heels I like to call my "St. Vincent heels", and a gorgeous 70% off bathing suit. Yesterday was the hottest day in Paris in a long time. I went to the gym (air conditioning, I love you so) and then stayed in all day. I met up with my friend Louise in the evening. We drank wine at 10pm and it was so hot I just wanted to take off the light black romper and go home and take an ice cold shower or sit in a tub of ice. I don't like heat waves. I really don't.
