SEPTEMBER GOALS RECAP!

Valentina Duracinsky September Goals

At the beginning of the month I made some resolutions. I wanted to be one of those people who makes monthly lists of goals to follow, one of those people who feels self-satisfaction and pride at the end of the month when they see all they have achieved. Today I'm sharing those goals again with my comments on how well I did on each.

This is more humorous than inspirational; I understood this soon after I started going through these goals again. What can I say? September was a wacky and unpredictable month, and I had to wing it. It. Everything. Life saw my list and said "Get ready for failure muahaha." So here it is. Failure. Hey, maybe you'll even feel better about yourself.

Music

  • write every day. Nope. Did not succeed. This would have been so easy - even to just sit down for 5 minutes to brainstorm ideas, but I did not do this and I am pretty disappointed in myself.
  • go to an open mic every week. Noooope. I think I went to one, and then I left for Ireland and then for Colombia. I could have (should have) done one in Ireland but I didn't.
  • learn 2-3 covers every week. week 1: And She Was, Wild Wild World, Psycho Killer (all Talking Heads). Weeks 2 to 4: none. God damn, I am feeling pretty foolish.
  • finish old songs. Uh... take a guess. (why am I doing this to myself)

Art

  • sketch more often. I didn't sketch that much but I did finish a few watercolors and that's good!
  • go to museums & galleries. I went to musée d'Orsay and musée Rodin with parents #2 (Ann and David.)
  • draw faces. Mmmmnope. (this is going well so far)

Health

  • no alcohol. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA IRELAND.
  • high-protein, low-carb diet. I wish I had been more successful because I was doing really well the first two weeks. The second two were catastrophic. #stroopwafelswithsteve
  • go to the gym. I went every day before Ireland and twice when I got back. I did go as much as I could and for that YES! I shall call this a success!
  • 100 sit ups + 1 minute plank daily. In Paris, yes. I did pretty well. In Ireland, absolutely not.
  • read 2 books. Mmmm... I started two books, I did not finish them. Both Kurt Vonnegut.

Work and other

  • start working on freelance writing & translating. GULP. (this will be over soon, thank god)
  • blog more. YES!!! Success.
  • learn about SEO. Sigh, I'm a loser.
  • keep track of spending. A bit. Let's say I did it!
  • organize photo albums. Nah, I'll do it later.
  • start a "library" with friends. I mentioned it to friends, and that is the first step.

You might think that I'd feel discouraged after not doing well in September but noooo, I am invincible. I aaactually want to make a list of goals for October. They will be quite different, seeing as I'll be in Colombia for the entire month. Honestly I feel fine. All joking aside, September was incredibly unpredictable and unpredictability tends to throw us off a little. In other senses, I feel like I accomplished a lot. It's 9:30 in the morning here and I've already written a blog post and gotten ready for the day. At the airport the other day, I finished 4 blog posts before 10am. It's all in how you see success. [Shrug] It's ok!
