Looking through this list, it seems I want tarts in fall-winter weather. Can you blame me? Warm slice of pear, ricotta & almond tart with a bit of homemade honey whipped cream sounds so good on a cold day in Paris or Dublin. But right now I am in Colombia... and all I want is ice on everything. How Colombians wear jeans or eat hot soup is beyond me.
After reading Jo Robinson's amazing book, I see fruit and vegetables in a different light. After I read it, I started cooking and storing and eating them differently, too. While she says you get more of carrot's nutritious benefits when cooked with some kind of fat, I still can't help myself and eat carrots raw. Sometimes I'll just eat the carrot as is; it is perfect. I absolutely recommend Eating on the Wild Side! Go get yourself a copy if you're interested.
